Metaviews.ca presents the second in a series of open salons focusing on the emerging topic of Open Government.

We began the series on the belief that the current conversation has been stuck in the same social media circles — and moving beyond the basic introductory level is crucial to the future potential.

Getting beyond a simplistic analysis of societal change is essential to getting the work done.

Three key themes from our first Open Government salon will provide the starting point for our second event:

1. How can we use freely available collaboration tools to build networks that displace rigid and unresponsive structures? And what is stopping us?
2. How can people in positions of power and authority open up to the idea of working more closely with those below their position and outside their organization? And what is stopping them?
3. How can the political class and the political process be engaged around Open Government in the expanding environment of "gotcha media"? Can't we chill?

Nicholas Charney and Jesse Hirsh of Metaviews.ca invite you to join us to move beyond the basics — and step up to the next level of public discourse.

7:30-8:30 p.m. — Facilitated Dinner Conversation
Each table will have a host who will engage the table in a group discussion on the subject. Food will be provided.

8:30-9:30 p.m. — Animated Public Debate and Discussion
We’ll convene as a group (including with people unable to attend dinner) and engage in debate on the subject, drawing out the issues of contention, disagreement, and insight. The goal is to reach new threads and positions that are otherwise not being addressed elsewhere — or at least not addressed enough.

Our special guests will include:
Steve Ressler founder of Govloop
John Weigelt, Chief Technology Officer of Microsoft Canada.
